Baijnath is located in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand state. Baijnath is a small town situated on the banks of river Gomti, which is about 21 km away from Bageshwar. Baijnath was formerly known as "Kartikeyapur", which was the capital of the Katyuri dynasty in the 12th and 13th centuries. One of the most important places to visit in Baijnath is the historical and important "Baijnath temple" built in the 12th century. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati had married at the confluence of Gomti and Garuda Ganga river. The centre of attraction for tourists is Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya Temple, which is built in the 12th century. There are many stone-made temples, in which the main temple is of Lord Shiva. This temple has been built with huge Shilas. Baijnath is a very important and historic site in Uttarakhand.

During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to the cold weather of winter, woollen clothing is required here. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides. The temperature of here between from 5°C to 15°C in the winter season and the temperature in the summer season is between 20°C to 25°C.
