Mukhem

Mukhem is a small village located in Tehri district of Uttarakhand state. This village is about 116 km away from New Tehri. This village is a famous Nagtirtha situated between Uttarkashi district and Tehri district. This village is about 7000 thousand feet above sea level. This village is famously known for the Sem Nagraja temple. The beautiful entrance gate of this temple is 14 feet wide and 27 feet high. In which the idol of Nagraj is made and Lord Krishna is glad in the tune of flute over the head of Nagraj. n the sanctum sanctorum of this temple is the Shila of Nagraja. In every 3 years, a grand fair is held in Mukhem, which takes place in the month of November. Thousands of devotees come here and Lord Nagraja's done darshan.

The journey of Mukhem can be done throughout the year, but the best time to visit here is between the months of October to April. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to the cold weather of winter, woollen clothing is required here. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
