Landour, in Mussorie, is a cantonment town with beautiful winding walks and numerous British era cottages. Landour was initially built by the British Indian Army as a convalescent station. Located at over 7000 feet and 4 kilometres from Mussoorie, the picture perfect town of Landour is surrounded by thick Oak and Deodhar woods. Landour is the perfect destination for those seeking peace and quiet. This small town boasts of St. Paul’s church built in 1840, the Landour language school which offers language studies in Urdu, Hindi and other Indian languages to students and wanderers, Char Dukan, literally four shops serving bun omelettes and cheesy noodles to many generations of school children, and Lal Tibba which commands the best view of Bandar Poonch, the highest visible peak. There is also a quaint Bazaar where one can buy handmade sandals or antiques. There is an interesting collection of graves at the small cemetery with the oldest grave dating to the mid-19th century.
