Nandprayag is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state. Nandprayag is about 9 km from Chamoli and about 19 km away from district headquarters Gopeshwar. Nandprayag is situated on the banks of confluence the Alaknanda and Nandakini rivers. Nandprayag is one of the "Panchaprayag" of Uttarakhand. This place was considered "the capital of the Yadu kingdom" in the Dwapar era. According to legend, the relation of this place is connected to Lord Krishna. It is believed that, at this place, Nand Maharaj had done austerity for obtaining Lord Vishnu in the form of a son. Nandprayag is located on Badrinath National Highway, which is about 1360 meters above sea level.
