Adi Badri Temple is an ancient temple located in Adi Badri of Chamoli district. The ancient name of this temple was "Narayan Math". This temple is a group of 16 ancient temples. The shape of this temple is like the pyramid form.
This temple has the belief that the Adi Badri temple was austerity site of Lord Narayana (Vishnu). Adi Guru Shankaracharya came first in this area, since then this place has been called as "Adi Badri".
This temple is predominantly a temple of Lord Vishnu and a 3-foot-high statue of Lord Vishnu is worshipped in the temple. In this temple is a statue of one-meter high black Shaligram, Lord Shaligram is standing in its quadrangular form in the temple premises.
This idol is situated inside the sanctum in the temple and a small temple near it is dedicated to Garuda, Lord Vishnu's vehicle. In the temple premises, the temples of other Gods and Goddesses are also situated.
It is said that these temples were constructed by the Pandavas while going to heaven and it is also said that it was constructed by the Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The Adi Badri Temple is one of the five Badris of Uttarakhand and the first and the oldest.

Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
