The Katarmal Sun Temple is a famous ancient temple situated in Almora district, this temple is about 16 km away from Almora. This famous temple is dedicated to the Sun God. This temple is situated at an altitude of about 2115 meters above sea level. This ancient temple was built in the 9th century AD by the king of the Katyuri dynasty. The Katarmal Sun Temple is one of the most famous and ancient temples of the Kumaon region, it is believed that after Konark Sun Temple in India, this temple is considered to be India's second most important sun temple.
