The Santala Devi Temple is an ancient and popular temple located in Dehradun. This temple is situated in the citadel named of Santaur, in the middle of green dense forests, about 15 km from Dehradun. This temple is a centre of belief for the devotees, which is situated right above the river Noor. This popular temple is dedicated to Goddess Santala and his brother Santoor. This temple has a great cultural and religious significance. According to legend, at this place when the goddess Santala and her brother realized that they were not able to fight the Mughals, they threw weapons and started praying to god. Suddenly a divine light shone on both of them, and they turned into stone statues. After this incident, a temple in the Santaur citadel has become itself. The devotees gather in the temple on Saturday, because it is believed that these days the goddess Santala gets converted into a stone statue. In the number of thousands, devotees come to Santala Devi Temple to take blessings of Goddess Santala and his brother. It is said about the temple that if devotee prays in a true heart, the mother goddess Santala fulfils her desire.
