The Confluence site of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river is in Devprayag. At this place, these both of sacred rivers are meet Bhagirathi and Alaknanda, from here onwards these both rivers are given the name of the holy river the Ganges. Due to the confluence of these two holy rivers, this place is considered very sacred. Pilgrims visit this place during their journey and take a holy dip in confluence. It is believed that by bathing here, the sin committed by a human being is destroyed. By bathing here, the mind gets a different peace. Maa Ganga is worshipped every evening on the banks of confluence. This place has a great religious significance.

The best time to visit Confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda is between the months of September to May. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. During the winter season, the weather of here is cold. Due to snowfall on the surrounding hills in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
