Askot Sanctuary is a famous sanctuary situated near Dharchula of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state. This sanctuary is about 54 km from Pithoragarh town. This sanctuary is situated at an altitude of 5410 feet above sea level. Askot Sanctuary is spread over an area of 284 sq km. This Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1986 with the objective of preserving the musk deer and its habitat. In this wildlife sanctuary, many animals like snow leopards, Himalayan black bears, musk deer, goral and kokla are found. The sanctuary also has herbs and various types of trees such as vegetation.
