The Nelong Valley is a beautiful valley situated in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. The Nelong Valley is located inside the Gangotri National Park of Gangotri Area. This valley at the elevation of about 11,000 feet. The Nelong Valley is connected to the Indo-Tibetan Border. Since the Indo-China war in 1962, this valley was closed for the come and go of the citizens, but before the war, it was the main route for the India-Tibetan trade. There are still some pre-infrastructures is present in the Nelong Valley, such as the Gartang Gallian Wooden Bridge and Lal Devta Temple etc. This valley offers a magnificent view of the Tibetan Plateau. In addition to the fascinating scenes, some wildlife species like snow leopards, blue sheep and musk deer are found in this valley.

The best time to travel to the Nelong Valley is between from the months of September to November and April to Jun. Travelling here in these months is the best and enjoyable. Due to heavy snowfall in the winter season, the temperature of here goes down very much. Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
