Shri Shankaracharya Math is a famous monastery located in Joshimath of Chamoli district. Shre Shankaracharya Math is famous as Jyotirmath. This monastery was established in the 8th century by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Adi Guru Shankaracharya here used to do penance here under a mulberry tree, and here he attained the knowledge. Here he composed Shankar Bhashya, which is one of the most important texts of Sanatan Dharma. Laxmi Narayan Temple is located inside the Shri Shankaracharya Math. Inside the famous monastery, the statue of Lord Badrinarayan and Rajajeshwari Devi is established. Shri Shankaracharya Math is one of the four monasteries established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya and his disciples. During the journey of Joshimath, pilgrim visits this famous monastery.
