Karna Temple is a famous temple located in Karnaprayag of Chamoli district. The name of this place is named as Karnprayag in the name of Karna. This temple is dedicated to Karna. Karna was an important character of Mahabharata, which happened was from the womb of Mata Kunti and was the elder brother of Pandavas.
From the confluence to the west side, in the form of Shilakhand, Danbir Karna's has austerity site and temples. According to mythology, Karna, by staying in the refuge of Uma Devi, in this confluence site, Lord Sun performed harsh austerity. Pleased with the penance of Karna, Lord Sun had imparted them impervious armour, coil and Akshaya bow.
It is also believed that Lord Krishna had performed the funeral of Karna at this place. Due to the Karna Temple being located at this place, donation at this place after bathing is considered to be very auspicious.
