Uma Devi Temple is a famous temple located in Karnaprayag of Chamoli district. In this temple is worshipped in 'Katyayani' form of Mata Parvati. In the early years of the 20th century, this temple came into existence.
It is said about this temple, that this holy temple is the only place, where Mata Parvati to receive Lord Shiva as the husband, By keeping the Nirjala fast, Lord Shiva was worshiped.
Establishment of this temple was done by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th century. About this temple it is believed that the idol of Mother Uma Devi, established in this temple, is already present before. By giving a dream darshan of a Dimri Brahman, At the confluence of the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers, they ordered their statue to be installed.
The home of Dimri Brahmins living in this area is also considered "Maa Uma Devi's mother's house", while the Shiv temple of Kaapari Patti is considered as his in-laws. A huge crowd of devotees gathers to visit the temple of Maa Uma Devi every day. This Temple is one of the main religious sites of Karnaprayag.
