Bankhandi Temple is a famous temple located in Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a historic temple, which is more than 200 years old connected to the legend. The people of Tharu community used to graze their animals in this area. One day, they saw a cow, which was giving his milk on a stone pile at this place. This incident was going repeated every day regularly. Given this incident, some local people went to that place and they found Shivling there. Then the people of Tharu community built a temple at that place, which is today known as named of Bankhandi Mahadev Shiva Temple. From many decades, a fair is organized at this temple on the Mahashivaratri festival, where a large number of devotees come. Bankhandi Temple is one of Khatima's religious pilgrimage sites.
