Durga Devi Temple is a popular temple located in Kotdwar of district Pauri Garhwal. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. This temple is situated inside a cave, which is considered to be one of the oldest Siddhapithas. The modern temple is situated near the road, but the ancient temple is situated in a 12-feet long cave a little below to the modern temple, in which a Shivaling is installed. There is a small cave near the main temple. In that cave for the darshan of Ma Durga, devotees have to go lay down. In this temple, of the Durga Mata is a statue emerged from the rocks and a flame is always burning inside. Local people also say that many times Ma Durga's vehicle come by to the "lion" temple and Goddess Durga used to return after darshan. An interesting story is also hidden in the construction of the Durga Devi Temple. It is said that the temple used to be very small in ancient times but there was an obstacle between road construction between Dugadda Kotdwar, then a grand temple was established by the contractor. People from far away, come to taking blessings of Goddess Durga.
