Mayawati Ashram is a famous ashram located in Lohaghat of Champawat district. This Ashram is situated at an altitude of about 1940 meters above sea level. This ashram is also known as named of "Advaita Ashram". This Ashram is a branch of Ramakrishna Monastery. There is also a small museum and a library in this ashram. From the inspiration of Swami Vivekananda, his disciple Swami Swaroopanand and English disciple Capt J. H. Sevier and his wife Mrs C. E. Sevier established this ashram in March 1899. In the year 1901, knowing the news of the death of your disciple Capt J. H. Sevier, Swami Vivekananda had come to Mayawati Ashram to give assurance to Mrs Sevier. Fifteen years until later the death of Captain, Mrs Sevier continued to serve in the ashram. On making special requests in this ashram, accommodation facility is also provided.
