Maheshwari Kund is a natural lake located in Munsiyari of Pithoragarh district. Local people call this Kund as Mehsar Kund. It is an ancient Kund and a deep mythological fact is attached to it. According to mythology, the Yaksha used to like this kund. In later, Yaksha fell in love with the daughter of Sarpanch of this region. When the people and Sarpanch came to know about their daughter's love affair, so he got angry and to get revenge from the Yaksha, they dried up the kund. After this incident, Yaksh has cursed the village that he will be suffering from drought for years to come. The villagers later apologized to them and the kund was freed from the curse. Maheshwari Kund offers a spectacular view of the snowy peak of Panchchuli. Maheshwari Kund is a centre of attraction in Munsiyari.
