Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) is a major celestial institute located in Nainital. This research institute specializes in astronomy, astrophysics and atmospheric science. This research institute is about 9 km from Nainital. This research institute is made to monitor astronomical studies and artificial satellites. In the year 1955, this observatory was established in Nainital and it was established in the year 1961 at the present place of Manora Peak. Several Instruments, including the 3.6 m telescope and 4-meter liquid telescope have been installed in this institute, which proves to be helpful in the survey of astronomy. It prepared with the help of India and Belgium, which is the largest affordable optical telescope in Asia. It has been constructed by Belgium's Advanced Mechanical Optical Systems (AMOS) and the ARIES.
