Raj Bhawan is a popular colonial building located in Nainital. This Bhawan is also known as named of 'Governor House'. This Bhawan was built like the Castle of Scotland. In the year 1897, the construction of the Raj Bhavan was started, this took 2 years to complete it. It is based on European pattern and Gothic architecture. The designers of this building were Stevens and Fow Ortel. After independence, its name was changed to Raj Bhawan. This Bhawan is spread over about 205 acres of the area with Golf Course in about 45 acres of land. Built in the year 1936, the Raj Bhawan's Golf Course is one of the oldest golf courses in India. There are about 75 rooms in this Raj Bhawan. On here is also a beautiful garden and swimming pool. It is a British era building, which is now the residence of the governor of Uttarakhand. It's built using many types of stones, such as grey marble, dolomite limestone and red sandstone. This Raj Bhawan is remaining open to tourists.
