Chandika Temple is a famous temple located in Nandprayag of Chamoli district. This temple is dedicated to Chandika Devi. It is the village goddess of seven villages, including nearby Nandprayag. Silver statue set in the sanctum of this temple is very impressive. The priests of this temple belong to the Sati community. These priests have the traditional right to worship in this temple. It is said that during Navratri, an ancestor of the priest dreamed that the statue of the goddess in the Alaknanda river is floating. Meanwhile, local people saw him and took him out and hid it in a cave. They people did not return home till the evening, then the people of the village searched for them and found them unconscious beside the hidden idol in the cave. The priest brought the idol to the house and built a temple, after that the priest established that statue in the temple. This temple is taken care of by the local temple committee.

Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of heavy rains threatening landslides.
