Danda Nagraja Temple is a famous temple located in Pauri district. In this temple, Lord Krishna is worshipped as the Danda Nagraja. This holy temple is about 33 km from Pauri. According to local people, the temple was established 140 years ago.
According to the temple's belief, 140 years ago, there was a cow near the Gumal caste in Lasera village, which situated in Danda, give every day his milk on a stone. Because of which, the people of the house could not get his milk, so the angry cow owner attacked the cow from the axe. But the axe was unable to do anything to the cow, and the axe got straight on the stone where the cow gave milk.
From the axe attack, that stone was broken into two parts and one part of it is still present in the Danda Nagraja Temple. After this brutal event, the Gumal caste was completely ended. According to legend, this place came very much liked by Lord Shri Krishna, for which he took the form of a serpent and revolve around this place since then this temple has been named as Danda Nagraja.
A fair is organized in Danda Nagraja Temple, in the month of April of every year. In this fair thousands of devotees come to darshan the of Nagraja Ji. During this, bells are offered to a large number of Nagaraja. This temple is the main centre of faith.
