Gurudwara Shri Nanakmatta Sahib is a historic holy gurudwara of Sikhs. This Gurudwara has been built on the banks of the river Saryu and the Nanak Sagar Dam is located nearby. This is the place where the first guru of Sikhs Nanak Dev and the sixth Guru Hargobind Sahib came.
This Gurudwara is associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which had gone there during his third Udasi in 1514 AD. At this time, Gurudwara was the residence place of the devotees of Guru Gorakhnath, and at that time this place was also the residence of Siddhas.
It was also called "Gorkhmatta" and "Siddhamatta". It is believed that the guru before of Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev had come to Nanakmata during the visit of Kailash Mountain in the year 1515. There was a tree of peepal in Gurudwara. Under the tree, Guru Nanak Dev Ji used to sit in his seat.
It is said that as soon as the holy phase of Guru Ji from, this Peepal tree has become green. At night, the Yogis started the storm and rain by Yog Shakti and the Peepal tree started flying up in the air. Seeing this, Guru Nanak Dev Ji put his claw on the tree of Peepal which caused the tree to stop there.
Even today, the roots of this tree can be seen 15 feet above the ground. Today, people know it by the name of "Panja Sahib". There is a Sarovar inside the gurudwara, where many devotees come to bath and then go o the darshan of the gurdwara.

Due to heavy rains in the rainy season, it is a bit difficult to travel of here because of rains.
