Omkareshwar Temple is a famous ancient temple located in Ukhimath. This sacred temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is brought to this temple due to the closure of the temple of Kedarnath and Madmaheshwar during the winter season. Six months of winter, Lord Shiva is worshiped in this temple.
It is believed that the marriage of Vanasur's daughter "Usha" and Lord Krishna's grandson "Aniruddha" was happened here. This place was called Ushamath by the name of Usha and it is now called Ukhimath. According to legend, Mandhata emperor left everything including his empire and came to Ukhamath.
