Kuteti Devi Temple is a famous religious temple located in Uttarkashi. This temple is situated on the Har mountain hill on the banks of river Bhagirathi. Regarding this temple, it is believed that this temple is established by the son-in-law and daughter of the Maharaja Kota. According to the instructions of Kuteti Devi, the daughter and son-in-law of Maharaja Kota constructed this temple on the right place where the precious stones were discovered. An interesting story has been associated with Kuteti Devi Temple, Once upon a during the visit to Gangotri Dham of the king of Kota of Rajasthan, a bag full of money was lost in any place. The king became very upset. Disappointed, the king returned to Uttarkashi and prayed in the Vishwanath temple and promised that if his bag would get back to him, he will marry his daughter with a suitable boy of that village. After some time, the king's bag was found by a priest and the priest returned the bag to the king. The king was very happy and according to the promise, he told the priest to find a suitable groom for his daughter's marriage. Soon the princess married the boy chosen by the priest, but the princess was unhappy because, as a result of this marriage, her family will have to go away from Kuldevi "Kuteti Devi". Both the princess and her husband prayed to Goddess to solve this problem. After this, Goddess appeared in his dreams and talked of building a statue of his own on the high hill near the river Indrawati. The next morning, when the princess and her husband arrived at the place mentioned in Kuteti Devi's place, there were three stones found in the form of Goddess, Kuteti Devi temple was built on the same place where they were found. In this way, the temple of Kuteti Devi was built.
