Shakti Temple is a famous religious temple located in Uttarkashi. This temple is famous for the 6-meter high Trident (Trishul). The perimeter of this trident (Trishul) is about 90 cm. The description of this Shakti temple is found in Kedarkhand of Skanda Purana. The upper and lower part of this trident is made of iron and copper. It is said that this trident was used by Goddess Durga to kill the demons. Goddess Durga is also known as Shakti. According to legend, there was a happened fierce war between the gods and demons once. In this war, when the deity was defeated by the demons, then all the gods pray from Maa Durga. As a result, Goddess Durga took the form of 'Shakti' and killed the demons. After this, Goddess Durga became sit as with divine 'Shakti', near Vishwanath temple. For this reason, this temple is called Shakti Temple. This temple has a great religious significance. During the trip to Uttarkashi, tourists visit in this temple.
