The Yamuna is the source of the river and the place of Goddess Yamuna is in Yamunotri Dham, This Dham is a pilgrimage at Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 3293 meters. 7 km away from Janki Chatti the temple of Goddess Yamuna Ji is the main attraction of Yamunotri . The original source of River Yamuna is at some range from the temple at an altitude of about 4,421 meters. Additionally, two hot sources can also be seen at Yamunotri out of Surya Kund.
Yamunotri Temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya in the month of May. This Yatra can be done during the months of May to October, And in fact, after taking the sacred glimpse of the temple, the mind remains soothing & peaceful. The glacier lake of Saptrishi Kund on the Kalindi Parvat is the real source of the river Yamuna. It is ordinarily believed that the sources surrounding the Yamunotri temple have divine powers which are why pilgrims carry raw potatoes and rice, which they dipping to cook in hot water and Goddess takes them home as a Prasad from the Yamuna.
Package Itinerary
Day 01: Delhi - Haridwar (230 Kms / 6 to 7 hrs)
On arrival pick up from Delhi Railway Station/Airport, Transfer to Haridwar. On arrival check-in at the Hotel. Relax for a while, After evening visit to Har Ki Pauri on the banks of the Ganga for the Aarti. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Haridwar - Barkot (180 kms / 6 hr)
Morning Breakfast, Check-out from the hotel then drive to Barkot through Mussoorie. En route visit Kempty Fall & others. Later drive straight to Barkot, Check-in your Hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Barkot.
Day 03: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot {42 kms drive & 6 kms Trek (one side)}
Morning drive for Janki Chatti through Hanuman Chatti and Phool Chatti. On arrival Janki Chatti starts Trek of 06 km for Yamunotri, On Arrive Yamunotri Holy Dipping in Hot Kund, than Pooja & Darshan of Yamunotri Ji, after you have Darshan, later start down the trek return to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century & rebuilt again.
Surya Kund: There are a Number of hot sources in the region of the temple, which flows into various pools. The most famous of these is Surya Kund.
Divya Shila: A rock pillar worshipped before starting the Yamunotri Temple.
Day 04: Barkot - Haridwar (180 kms / 6hrs)
Morning breakfast, Check-out from the hotel and drive to Haridwar. Check in Hotel. At evening visit Ganga Aari at Har ki Pauri. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
Day 05: Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi (230 kms / 7 hr)
After breakfast, Check-out from the hotel. On arrival at Delhi, proceed to Airport / Railway Station for onward journey Tour End.
