Vishnuprayag is one of the major pilgrimage sites located near Joshimath in Chamoli district. Vishnuprayag is about 13 km from Joshimath and the is about 69 km away from district headquarters Gopeshwar. This is one of the famous Panch Prayags of Uttarakhand state. This place is situated at an altitude of 1375 meters above sea level. Vishnuprayag is situated at the confluence of Dhauli Ganga and Alaknanda rivers. According to legend, it is said that Narada Muni had done penance of Lord Vishnu at this place. Holy Dham Badrinath is about 32 km away from Vishnuprayag. Pilgrims visit this holy place even during the journey.

The temperature of here between from 1°C to 10°C in the winter season and the temperature in the summer season is between 15°C to 25°C.
